Of all the family traditions I love, the repeat vacation just might be my favorite. Traveling to the same location every year and even staying in the same house or cabin brings back a flood of fun memories with family and friends. Knowing where the best spot on the beach might be, a local deli with the best sandwiches, favorite hiking trails, and the familiar feel of a town you’ve gotten to know over the years comes with a certain peace of mind. Its nostalgia, comfort, and tradition all rolled into a glorious repeat vacation.

I get it. Many travelers would prefer a new location, but for others, the familiarity of returning to the same destination year after year has its benefits. I fall into the middle of these camps. I love to seek out new destinations, restaurants, adventures, and people, but I also love the idea of grabbing the family and heading to "our" spot.

Knowing what to expect creates a more enjoyable experience overall. Traveling somewhere familiar requires less planning, which ultimately results in less stress, and we could all use that. So grab the kids, load up the car, and head to somewhere you loved as a kid. It’s time to bring back the traditional family vacation!
