September is packed full of local happenings that will S T R E T C H your summer fun for just a little bit longer. Stroll along the riverwalk, enjoy the outdoor venues of bars and restaurants or show up for Reno’s last hoorah at the Nugget Rib Cook-Off and the Reno Balloon Races. Here is what you need to know:

Ribs. Not just any ribs, but the Best In The West ribs! This coveted event welcomes talented BBQ teams from across the country competing for nearly $20,000 in prize money and the prestige of being rib master at this delicious annual event. Additionally, you can enjoy a variety of activities that don’t require a roll of paper towels and dental floss.

Dates: Aug 31st - Sep.5th

Times: Wed- Sunday 10:30am - 9pm and Monday 10:30am - 5 pm

Location: Victoria Square, Sparks. Between 14 St. and Pyramid Way.

Balloon Races

Balloon Races:

Reno is home to the world’s largest free hot-air ballooning event with up to 100 colorful balloons filling the valley sky. Early risers can enjoy the “Glow Show” followed by Dawn Patrol (Sat and Sun). Totally worth arriving at 5 am. Local vendors will make sure you can get a cup of coffee and a commemorative t-shirt (photo).

Dates: Sept. 9th - 11th

Times: 3:30 am with a mass launch at 7 am. Vendors open until 11am
