Segment Hiking Program

Hike the whole Tahoe Rim Trail while working around your schedule! From July 2 to September 3rd, this group meets once a week to set foot on every inch of the Tahoe Rim Trail in one summer. Imagine segment hikes as the ultimate upgrade to your regular day hikes! The exciting Segment Hiking Program brings together adventure enthusiasts who aim to conquer the entire Tahoe Rim Trail in a single summer. Get ready for weekly hikes that demand not only time but also stamina. While you’ll be enjoying the comforts of your own bed each night, you’ll still be tackling a full day of hiking, covering anywhere from 7 to 23 miles on the trail. The ultimate pay-it-forward program, many past participants of this program have gone on to become volunteer guides for the TRTA.

Guided Thru Hikes Program

Spending 15 days in some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes is a lifelong dream for many people. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association can help you make that dream a reality. Each summer, two groups of 12 are guided 15 days straight around the entire 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail. Participants in the program train for months and are coached all along the way on what to expect. After completion, thru-hikers walk away with a deep seeded connection to the trail, and many are inspired to give back in some other capacity. Two dates: August 5th- August 19th AND August 19th - Sept 2nd

Youth Backcountry Camps

With the goal of fostering a connection to nature, this exciting program leads kids into the wilderness for a three to five-day backpacking adventure. A recent study revealed that less than 10% of U.S. kids spend daily time outside. On average, kids spend seven hours a day in front of screens. The TRTA wants to change that. As the caretakers of Tahoe Basin Trails, their goal is to provide outdoor education and service learning to help kids reconnect with the natural world. Frankly, there is no better place to do that than beautiful Lake Tahoe. 2023 dates are filled for the season, so be sure to check in again for next year's registration.
